One of the most iconic Corgi Toys of the late-60s era, Corgi 302 was modelled on the winner of 1968’s London to Sydney Marathon, a long distance rally that covered over 10,000 miles through Europe, Asia and Australia.
Starting in Crystal Palace, South London, on 24 November and ending in Sydney on 17 December, the Hillman Hunter beat an Austin 1800 into second place – two family cars not otherwise known for their motorsport pedigree! In honour of the rally’s destination, Corgi included a miniature kangaroo with the model.
Featuring ‘Golden Jacks’ take-off wheels and a full racing livery, Corgi 302 was introduced in 1969. It was deleted from the Corgi range in 1972, after sales of just over 150,000.
