Ghia 5000 Mangusta with De Tomaso Chassis (271)

$79.99

As the 1960s morphed into the 1970s, Corgi continued to introduce innovative features, most notably on a selection of models featuring a removable chassis. The Italian Ghia 5000 Mangusta with a De Tomaso chassis was an ideal subject – Ghia famous for their streamlined bodies and De Tomaso for their engine and chassis combinations.

Launched into the Corgi range in 1969 with a stylish two-tone body, gold stripes on the bonnet and some beautifully detailed ‘magnesium’ style wheels, it certainly looked the part! In 1970, renumbered 203, it was revamped with Whizzwheels – no longer with a detachable chassis and in green paintwork – although the two-tone livery still appeared on the box illustration.

SizeLength: 100mm Width: 42mm Height: 25mm

A Christmas gift that I got from my cousin

It's pretty funny how much I remembered the Corgi cars as a kid and for some reason I mentioned them being back at that I would never purchase any this time around because of the price. Well I got two for Christmas from one of my cousins and was super surprised. He was visiting and I had mentioned that Corgi was back knowing that I collected a lot of vintage toys from my childhood. I showed him the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , my 007 Aston Martin and my favorite the Batmobile. To this moment I think he was nuts to have payed over 40 bucks each but it was a gift and I appreciate my Corgi's
Still well made but just so overpriced that you should be ashamed, sorry . I find originals in toy shows and even flea markets that have been well kept and have not cost anything close to 40 bucks.
