Love that CMC decided to release this edition not only for the 60th, but also as a launch for their upcoming Whizzwheels series. Overall the model is very good. But I have to point out a couple of inconsistencies with the original. All the gold parts ( beacon cage, chain cutter blade and button, rocket tube wheel, and turbine port/tow hitch) per original were plated gold and shiney. This example (as well a their Gift Set 3 and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang) opts for a gold dull paint. The whizzwheels suffer the same, whereas the original had chromed wheel hubs, this example uses a dull silver paint. The door bats on the original had a slimmer bat. Here they use the same as their regular model. And lastly the exhaust flame....now flickers upon wheel movement. The original edition addition of whizzwheels and thinner axle omitted the use of the cam that created the "pulse" action. Now for some reason it works. I actually like that this feature is there because as a kid I was disappointed about it. But from a purist standpoint these little things create a different model from the original on which it is modeled. Again, this is a nice model and for the most part passes as the model it's supposed to be. I just it kind of comes off as a cheap money grab. There are certainly other models in this collection that they have done a stellar job recreating -268 Green Hornet comes to mind. Don't get me wrong I have and love all their releases, but don't call it a re-issue if your gonna just change things on it because then it becomes something different.
Great!!!!
