Issued in 1968 in the wake of the success of the gold Corgi 261, the all-new Corgi 270 gave fans what they’d been calling for – a James Bond Aston Martin DB5 in silver, just like the original movie car. It was produced in a slightly larger 1:43 scale – as opposed to Corgi 261’s 1:46 – to allow for two exciting new features: revolving number plates and pull-out rear wheel tyre slashers.
However, it thankfully retained the earlier model’s iconic ejector seat (complete with hapless bad guy figure), pop-out machine guns and overriders, as well as a rear bullet-proof shield. In this special Silver Grille Edition, we have replicated the rare first version of Corgi 270, featuring a silver grille and bumpers. The model is presented in the original’s iconic ‘bubble’ packaging, complete with the all-important secret instructions, lapel sticker and a spare bad guy – all housed in the plinth beneath the model.
