The design sophistication of the Buick Riviera turned heads on both sides of the Atlantic – none more so than at Corgi Toys, the UK’s legendary die-cast metal toy car manufacturer.
The actual car was famously styled with few engineering constraints, Corgi’s engineers paying tribute to the spirit of the Riviera by creating it in 1:48 scale complete with a chrome grille and bumpers, miniature wire wheels, a suitably plush red interior – and best of all, their innovative ‘Trans-O-Lite’ lighting system that illuminated both the front and rear lights. It's a feature that fascinated and delighted kids back in the Sixties!
1960s-era Corgi Toys are now extremely valuable, especially when in mint condition and in their original boxes. They’ve long become out of reach to all but those with the deepest pockets – which is a shame as these iconic heavy die-cast toys deserve to be loved by a new generation of model car enthusiasts – not to mention those of us who owned them the first time around!
We created the Corgi Model Club to lovingly replicate these famous heavy die-cast toys – but at a fraction of the price of original examples. Because we're collectors too, we know how important it is to replicate the features of 1960's Corgi Toys – such as the Riviera's ‘Trans-O-Lite’ lighting system and the fabulous metallic blue paintwork. No detail is too small to be ignored, which is why this model also comes with an instruction leaflet and at the rear of the car an authentic tow hook – just like the original!
For a limited time only, our Corgi Model Club edition of the Buick Riviera can be yours for the special introductory price of only $19.99.
Satisfyingly heavy in the hand, this die-cast Corgi Toy is a fantastic reminder of days gone by – a solid die-cast metal model complete with a period-correct box and an individually numbered Corgi Model Club Certificate of Authenticity.
